Authenticity, Warmth, and Tangible Tools to Help
Hey there - my name is Stacy Yanagawa (she/her). I am a licensed provider in the state of Alaska and I currently provide telehealth therapy services for adults across the state.
I utilize an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach, because it has been a powerful tool of transformation for my clients and in my own life. I am also a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist and have experience working with folks who may be feeling the lasting effects of trauma (PTSD, C-PTSD), anxiety, depression, life dissatisfaction, and grief. My clients often show up with a desire to understand themselves better, explore their identity or place in this world, and build capacity to allow, feel, and unhook from painful emotions that have kept them stuck.
A bit more about me: in addition to being a licensed professional counselor, I’m also a proud auntie and dog mom, avid reader, casual painter, jewelry-maker, and all-around curious-about-the-world human. I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and currently reside in Oregon. I am a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and a queer woman. I bring a deep sense of cultural humility and curiosity in my work and life. It is extremely important for me to show up authentically and to bring openness, nonjudgment, and deep respect for my clients’ interwoven identities and culture.
I also bring a sense of lightness and humor to the therapy room, when appropriate. I believe we heal in community - and we also heal through joy, laughter, and embracing the many (often silly or messy) components of our humanity.
